unlocking your car radio

The pre-code is a unique identifier for your radio, consisting of one letter followed by 3 digits (ex: A100, B234, M456). It is NOT the unlock code — it is used to calculate the unlock code.

How to find it:

1. Turn on the ignition (without starting the engine)
2. Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 on the radio simultaneously for 2-3 seconds
3. The pre-code will appear on the display (ex: A100)
4. Write it down and enter it in our calculator

On some models you may need to press 1+5 or 2+6. If nothing appears, your radio may not use the pre-code system.

The service works for Renault, Dacia and Nissan vehicles equipped with original factory radios using the pre-code system. It covers the vast majority of models produced after 2000:

• Renault: Clio II, III, IV, Megane I, II, III, Scenic I, II, III, Laguna, Captur, Kadjar, Talisman, Fluence, Koleos
• Dacia: Logan, Sandero, Stepway, Duster, Lodgy, Dokker, Logan MCV
• Nissan: Micra, Note, Qashqai, X-Trail, Juke, Pulsar, Navara

The steps for entering the code vary slightly by model, but generally:

1. Make sure the radio displays CODE or SAFE on the screen
2. Use the preset buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 to select each digit (press multiple times to reach the desired digit)
3. Confirm the code with button 5 or 6
4. If correct, the radio starts immediately

Important: You have a maximum of 3 attempts. After 3 consecutive mistakes, the radio locks for 1 hour.

If the received code does not work, check:

• Did you enter the pre-code correctly in the form? (check the letter and all digits)
• Does the pre-code come from the original factory radio, not an aftermarket one?
• Are you entering the code correctly in the radio (each digit with the corresponding button)?

This is a security measure implemented by manufacturers to prevent car radio theft. The system works as follows:

• The radio remembers when the power supply is abruptly interrupted
• Upon restart, if it detects a power interruption, it enters security mode and requests the code
• This measure discourages theft — a stolen radio without the code is unusable

The solution is simple: generate the code using our calculator and enter it once. In the future, if you change the battery again, you will repeat the process (the code remains the same).
